THE HOPE PROJECT - MUSIC TO GIVE HOPE IN THE MIDST OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC NOTE DATE HAS CHANGED DUE TO THE LOCKDOWN TO 21ST NOVEMBER 2020

  • Saturday, November 21, 2020

  • 11:00 AM 4:00 PM

  • Friars Walk Shopping Centre John Frost Square Newport, Wales, NP20 1EAUnited Kingdom (map)

From an original idea by Gisele Boll, violinist with the St Woolos Sinfonia, the orchestra would like to give a positive message of hope to the people of the city of Newport, who may be adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic: a string quartet of players from the St Woolos Sinfonia, will play a selection of beautiful music in a disused shop, which had to close because of the current economic downturn, due to COVID-19.

Music by Phillip Glass, Max Richter, James MacMillan, Eric Whitacre, Michael Nyman, Arvo Part and Samuel Barber.

This event is intended to be free for people who happen to be at Friars Walk Shopping Centre in Newport at the time, to pop by and listen to some music at your leisure - whilst observing supervised social distancing!

There will be some overhead costs to stage the event and St Woolos Sinfonia would be grateful to people, businesses or other organisations who/which can afford and would like to support the event - for your fellow citizens, customers, clients and everyone of the city of Newport, together in these times of adversities!
