Paula Kempton, Principal Second Violin
Paula Kempton, SWP’s Leader of the Second Violins, studied at the Royal Academy of Music (1978-82) and joined the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 1982, playing Sub-Principal First Violin under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. In 1989, she joined Orquestra do Porto in Portugal following a desire to live and work abroad. Returning to Britain three years later Paula free-lanced with CBSO, BSO, London Musici, Ballet Rambert, WNO, Welsh Sinfonia, and St. Woolos Players.
She performs regularly in local chamber music concerts as well as playing for weddings and corporate events with Threescompanytrio (www.threescompanytrio.co.uk). Paula teaches the violin privately at home. She recently gained a BA in Modern Language Studies with First-class Honours.
